Phoebe’s shop

February 28, 2008

A talented illustrator Phoebe Eason is also a talented maker. Yes, she is the one who made the giant mushroom that accompanied me to the Fairtrade launch event. She illustrated the Onagono’s textile prints for Spring/Summer ‘08 collection (you will see very soon!) as well as some of the Shining T-shirt prints. Now, she started her online shop on etsy called ‘the Whistling Chair‘ that sells brooches, soft toys etc, each one of them has a story. Both the shop and the products very much reflect her illustrations. The Phoebe Original.

I visited her studio (a.k.a. her flat in Stoke Newington…) when she was working hard on her sewing machine. Here is the snap shot.

A Fairtrade Funfair

February 25, 2008

Yesterday, for the first time ever the Fairtrade Foundation launched Fairtrade Fortnight with a public event entitled ‘Fairtrade Fairground’ on South Bank. They kindly invited Onagono to take part in it, so there I was. I spent whole time talking to people from young to old who were keen to know more about Onagono and its collection.

One of the visitors my very own niece Natsu was enjoying a lot of Fairtrade food samples – Banana, ice cream, chocolate and more. A happy day.

A dancing banana lady caught a Fairtrade cotton producer and the instant collaborative performance took place.

A Giant Mushroom

February 23, 2008

This is Phoebe’s handmade giant mushroom. It’s really cool, so I am taking it with  me to the Fairtrade Fortnight launch event in Southbank tomorrow where Onagono is having a stand and talking to the visitors. Later, the giant mushroom will appear along with the Onagono T-shirts in a window display at Family Tree Shop during the Fairtrade Fortnight.

There was an unique catwalk show on Columbia Road yesterday as part of London Fashion Week. The event was supported by Hackney Council and Tower Hamlets Council who aim to achieve a greater uptake of cycling.
